About This Role

We are looking for a Senior Product Designer (UX) to own the UX direction for a product area, a complex workflow, or a project shaped by hard constraints - multi-role users, dense operational logic, policy and legal requirements, technical limitations, and real timeline pressure.

What we are looking for is not a long list of projects. It is evidence that your quality holds across different types of output and different contexts - that the standard is a repeatable way of working rather than one well-rehearsed case. You are the person who turns an ambiguous problem space into a structured one, puts a defensible recommendation on the table, and helps the team decide.

In this role you are also the voice of UX in front of the client and the person the UX team looks to: you present and defend solutions with decision-makers, and you shape the scope, quality and reasoning of the designers working alongside you.

Key Responsibilities

UX Research & Evidence

• Lead research across discovery, definition and validation, producing the full range of outputs: discovery notes, interview synthesis, usability findings, competitive benchmarks and decision recommendations.
• Set the right objective, read the evidence rigorously, state the limitations honestly, and convert insight into decisions the team can act on - research that ends in a deck is research that failed.
• Align user insight with business goals, operational dependencies and technical constraints.

Ideation, Problem Structuring & Recommendation

• Break an ambiguous problem space into its parts: user problem, business goal, operational dependency, technical constraint, risk, assumption, and the decisions that actually need to be made.
• Lead ideation consistently across modules and workflows; compare solution options and put forward a recommendation that names the choice, the reasoning, the impact and risk, and what still needs validating.
• Hold the rationale together when stakeholders or context shift underneath it.
• Detect ambiguity, definition gaps and conflicts between stakeholders, and build alignment through argument, artifacts, prototypes or a clear decision framework.

UX Direction & Delivery

• Own the UX direction across a range of outputs: sitemaps/app maps, journey and workflow architecture, wireframe systems, prototypes, interaction models and validation plans.
• Handle system flows, operational logic and technical constraints across varied contexts, treating each cycle as iteration and learning rather than a one-off delivery.
• Sustain a consistent quality bar across iterations - coherent UX logic, buildable output, and clear product value.

Client Presentation & Stakeholder Alignment

• Present directly to clients and decision-makers: research outcomes, solution options, recommendations and trade-offs, steering the discussion toward an actual decision.
• Handle pushback and change requests with reasoning and evidence, protecting design intent while staying honest about real constraints.
• Partner deeply with PM, BA, PA, Engineers and UI Designers so the UX direction is understood correctly, is buildable, and survives the transition into UI, handoff and build without losing intent.

Team Leadership

• Lead the UX workstream on a project: distribute scope, set expectations for output and quality, track progress, and unblock the designers on your team.
• Review other designers' work at the level of artifact and rationale, surfacing gaps in flows, assumptions, edge cases and decision logic.
• Raise the shared standard - how the team structures problems, argues decisions and presents work - so quality does not depend on who happens to pick up the task.

Must Have

• 7+ years in product design or UX, with demonstrable evidence of a consistent quality bar across multiple outputs and iteration cycles - not breadth of exposure, but a repeatable way of holding UX logic, build ability and product value together.
• Proven ownership of the UX direction for a product area, a complex workflow, or a project with significant constraints: multi-role users, operational logic, policy or legal requirements, technical limitations, timeline pressure.
• Ability to structure a messy problem space into user problems, business goals, operational dependencies, technical constraints, risks, assumptions and decisions.
• Command of directional UX artifacts: journey and workflow architecture, sitemaps/app maps, interaction models, wireframe systems, prototypes and validation plans.
• Ability to compare multiple solution options and land a recommendation with clear reasoning behind it.
• Ability to recognise ambiguity, definition gaps and stakeholder conflict, and to create alignment through argument, artifacts, prototypes or decision frameworks.
• Client presentation skills: experience presenting to clients and decision-makers, defending recommendations with evidence, and driving a session to a decision.
• Team leadership: experience leading a group of designers on a project - allocating scope, reviewing work at the artifact and rationale level, unblocking others and lifting the overall standard.
• Strong command of Figma and a deep understanding of design systems, both for feasibility and for consistency at scale.

• Experience in a product design consultancy or agency environment.
• Familiarity with enterprise platforms, SaaS, or systems with heavy business logic.
• A portfolio spanning multiple projects that traces research insight through problem framing and solution options to final output, including what changed after iteration and why.
